I can't see any difference in functionality with one exception. After setting up a watch zone the settings tab has dropped off the bottom of the screen but it doesn't scroll. You'd think by now functionality would be spot on... Having said that staying informed this summer is vital but never rely on a single source for your information. Listen to ABC or local radio, Vic Emergency web site and your own eyes, ears and nose.
Cosmetic changes and reduced functionality No ability to view four days of Fire Danger Ratings, only two. Inability to configure notification tones leading to ambiguity. No ability to configure sleep time to disable structure fire all clear advice messages during certain hours.
It's crap Drains my battery I never get the warnings on time eg, driving along the Hwy straight into the fire fighters, fighting a grass fire. I was turned around and detour around got to my drive way and then this dumb app msg me of the fire I just spent the last hour driving around. Good one government another stuff up. Do not rely on this.
Not receiving notifications All fine on my previous phone but on my new one I'm not receiving any notifications. Have checked my phone settings, there shouldn't be anything blocking notifications. Bit of a problem considering that's the actual purpose of the app. :/
Too many notifications Please let us choose the distance the app reaches. The smallest 20km is too big. I get notifications from places over that and they're constantly on fire. This app helped during the hastings bushfire last year and crib point this year but I'm over getting notifications from the city?! I am nowhere near there. Yet I get notifications every 15 minutes, it's really annoying.
Good volunteer effort & is improving App usability continues to slowly improve. CFA advises this app now runs in emergency supported group, so availability is maintained during network congestion or overload above non-essential apps during emergencies. Watch Zones easier to use & customisation is appreciated (ie. I can ignore hazmat events or just get notifications for bush/grass & house fires, etc.). ABC 774 radio is a must for us in the bush (AM freq pushes through hills & smoke) & this app is a useful companion on extreme & red alert days.
