Essential app for European birders. However, it hasn't been updated since January 2021 which, for a paid app is quite, disappointing. The functionality could be a lot better, particularly the compare function; more images, such as for juvenile waders, would help, and the taxonomy needs to be maintained. The 3rd edition of the book came out in 2022, so the app is now out of date.

Fantastic app, just like the book only you can zoom in closer, super sharp text, sounds and very easy to use. Obviously a lot of work has gone into this. BUT, im still waiting a filter in the settings to be able to view birds only seen in Britain. But, it doesn't seem like they read these reviews. I would buy the videos but unfortunately, they are a bit pricey. This app now lays the benchmark as one of the best bird guide apps.

Clunky to use, the iPhone version was/is much better. The lists functionality is terrible: entries are jumbled according to time of day of entry, and you can't sort lists by date or name. This developer neglects Android users. And there's so much more that this app could do, it's just the book digitised plus (too short and few) sound clips . If that sounds silly, South African bird apps have photos too, much more text and variety of songs and calls (and longer clips), site guides etc.
