It works, but is underwhelming. I'd recommend using your phone as your gps until they fix the navigation. The basic google maps is way more useful. As of this moment it is a glorified speedometer. More customization options like always seeing ETA and the like would be great. The app also needs an option to override the google maps already on phone, because right now the integrated search doesnt even work with Navdys gps.
Navdy sent a professional to have it installed on my car. Very nice! Hard ware works very good and interfaces with my phone perfectly. On the other hand, software part still have room for improvement. Traffic details not as good as Waze and color scheme needs improvement.
Routing still kinda sucks Navdy is still very new in navigation solution. In a first attempt, they had give an excellent apps. However the routing still can be improved a lot. I feel I've always been suggested to go through crowded areas.
And as noted by others the routing is horrible and I have to use other apps or about to put my Garmin GPS back in car. No interim routing or waypoints only point to point. No look ahead on your route for gas, food etc. ETA's calculate 20-25% longer than other apps/GPS which are accurate. No lane assist. While it does display different colors on the map for traffic no way to click on it to see what it is and estimate delay. No detour rerouting. Only get gauges for speed, rpm and fuel through the OBD port my Garmin gets about 12 gauges. Hardware pretty good but a $50 GPS is better than this and WAZE and Google maps far better. And the search feature, press the button on the Navdy and ask it to search but it searches on Google Maps and shows the destination on the Google Map phone app but you cannot send that to the Navdy as a destination. You have to go to the Navdy app on the phone to enter a destination.
Really well done This app was well engineered. There is a lot going on here and - for the most part - the app does everything smoothly. There is hardware integration, coordination between services, and navigation to boot (even seamless switching between online map services and embedded maps). I've been extremely impressed thus far and updates continue to improve performance.
Update: Initial problems turned out to be the Navdy hardware. Replacement unit pairs immediately. However, the app leaves a lot to be desired. The turn by turn and routing are just terrible. Side by side tests with Navdy and Waze had the Navdy trying to take me miles out of the way, through traffic, to get to a friend's house. Waze knew the back way that is shorter and avoids the traffic. Of course during the run up to the Navdy release, numerous surveys went out asking what future users wanted it to do. The most asked for feature was Waze integration. Still not available. --- Initial review below. --- Waited 24 months to get my Navdy. So far it has paired with my phone only one time. It offered an update at that time, which I accepted. Since then, the display will not pair with my phone, nor the control dial. I get to the splash screen and no farther. I did the factory reset procedure as described in the help documents, which had no effect at all. I described what I had done in some detail in an email to Navdy support. The reply was a cut and paste of one of the help sections. Save your money. Wait for the Anker unit soon to be on the market.
