Absurd that we need to rely on external apps for this, but fortunately this one works. I had a problem with a 13gb archive and they patched the app within hours after my support request! The instructions are a little dated but once you understand, the process is click click click.

i got some bugs will make me to find another way and pay more to move my whatsapp from ios to my android phone my issues is that all voice notes are not restored as normal whatsapp voice notes, the restored attachments are not restored with the original names and there are many bugs with group messages

After trying to copy WhatsApp from IOS to Android for a week, this finally worked!! The support was also really helpful :)
