About this app

At Google Nest, we make products that are beautiful, helpful and easy to use. The Nest app is no exception.

Control your Nest thermostat, arm and disarm your Nest Secure alarm system, see your home with Nest Cam, and get an alert if Nest Protect goes off – all in one place. And receive notifications on your Android phone or tablet.

Nest uses sensors, algorithms, and the location of your phone to do the right thing automatically, turning off the heat and turning on the camera when you leave. Forget to set the alarm? It will notice, and send you a Remind Me alert.

- See what you missed with snapshots of the last three hours.
- Check in 24/7 with crisp 1080p HD video (Nest Cam and Dropcam Pro only).

Good and bad. The app itself is lovely, responsive, and intuitive. It can take a little getting used to it, but overall it's solid as a home automation ecosystem. That said, it's missing some easy win, key features, that really make it second rate to Ecobee and others. You can't adjust what time to use remote sensors, one preset times. You can't do functions like maximum or average between sensors. There's just some functionality missing..

We hear you, Tim. We understand that the ability to create and edit your own schedule for the Nest Temperature Sensor will be helpful to you — we're always looking for ways to improve. We’re working on adding more features to our app and devices to give you the best experience. We'll take this as feedback.

The app is easy to use and connect to all its devices. One camera however will lose a signal too often which is frustrating and sometimes takes too long to refresh the view, so what your seeing is not always "real time". I have up to date internet 75/75 speed, and an extender also, so not sure where that problem lies... The view is very clear and the microphone picks up sounds extremely well. I am also able to control my thermostat while at work so I'm not wasting resources.

Thermostat doesn't do what it's supposed to do a lot of time. Sometimes it senses when I'm home, sometimes it doesn't. After setting a schedule, it gets altered either mysteriously or by Google trying to "save me money". I've opted out of this feature several times, but it doesn't seem to make much of a difference. Our thermostat it set very low in the winter (55-62 degrees) and high in the summer ( 84-79 degrees). Moving it one degree in either direction, as Google does , really is not helpful.
