It's like I'm back in theatre. The immersion is awesome and I can't get over how genuine the scale of the movie feels. My only real issue is the depth or distance from the screen. I have to turn my head slightly left or right to see things clearly that are happening on the sides or edges of the screen. If it's possible, my recommendation would be to simply pull back the closeness of the screen to where it falls completely in your front view as opposed to the periphery. YouTube VR has a function where scrolling up and down on DayDream Remote adjusts the distance of the screen.

Netflix, Netflix, Netflix, it's such a nice app and it could be amazing but there are a few things that maybe you should look at. Firstly the whole hidden menu, come on I shouldn't have to read other reviews to see how to use the app to its full potential. When viewing there should be an option to make the area around the screen black in both layouts, I don't need distractions.

I have thouroughly been enjoying watching movies on the Netflix VR app on my Google DayDream, where I would usually on a laptop. The VR makes it look like I am watching movies on a screen much larger, the screen is optimised at a comfortable view fitting exactly in my peripherals. I have been using earphones while watching movies for a surround sound effect. This is much cheaper than buying a movie ticket, or buying an expensive TV screen to size!

Daydream works. Hulu works. YouTube works. Get with it. I see a screen that says start my free trial, but there is absolutely no way to select it or sign in. The dang controller is sitting next to me on the couch. Is it a quadriplegic simulation of me sitting on a couch at a friend's house where they forgot to set up Netflix? If so, GREAT JOB!

It's the best (& only) TV/Movie service in daydream. There's not even a half decent video player for daydream! The app still needs: offline support, alternative rooms (though the default room looks amazing), different TV sizes & and the ability to watch lying down.

Firstly, an onboarding flow would be nice. Secondly, how about state it only works on the daydream headset. Thirdly how about log you in via smart Lock. I've got no way of advancing passed the login web view and no way of "clicking" on the poorly placed ceiling menu on my powis viewer... Only guessing you need daydream headset

When pairing your controller with a different headset Netflix does not allow you to use the controller. However all the other Daydream apps let you do it. So I don't understand what the problem is. If you could just allow me to watch shows in my nice Bobo VR helmet I would be most appreciative. I can't see in the daydream viewer due to my nearsightedness and daydream has no way to adjust. It's really horrible to wear with my glasses let alone simply a horrible headset. Please fix this ASAP
It is great that we can finally watch Netflix with Google cardboard (or for me my new Google daydream), I initially thought you couldn't watch laying down. You have to click on the dots floating in the chandelier, then it takes it to that menu. Only complaint now is that that want intuitive. Good job Netflix.
The fact that I have to manually enter my password is a joke. Why isn't smart Lock enabled? Have not been able to use it given that I use a real password. Link with smart Lock or merge with Netflix regular app?
It's a great viewing experience and the optional minimalistic, screen configuration view is spot on. However, it doesn't support downloaded titles (or isn't apparent that it can work with the standard app) for offline viewing. Daydream view is ideal for withdrawing from the reality of sitting middle seat in an over-booked flight with screaming kids - how about some Netflix to go with that? Edit: compared to the new Google Movies update the resolution is really low.
The app needs major some serious improvements for the VR experience: 1. There should be an option to zoom the screen in and out just like the YouTube VR app has. Not everyone would like to watch in the same dimensions, I might wanna watch it on a smaller screen. 2. Download option and offline viewing should be enabled. 3. Screen brightness adjustment should be provided. With the current settings I hardly watch any TV Show or a movie for 30-45 minutes, I get a message on screen that the phone is hot and I should take a break. Then where is the cinema experience when I have to continuously take 15 minute brakes for every half an hour. It makes a 2 hour movie 3 hours and also force me to loose interest. 4. Manual Screen calibration should be provided. Example: I might wanna watch a movie laying on my back, relax and face the ceiling. But unfortunately we can only center the screen from right to left but not up and down. This option would give a relaxed movie or TV watching experience.
Pixel XL / Daydream / Android O. Tried 3 different programs, none worked. Unable to play, try again later. Which I did, same thing all 3.
So... No offline support? It's a decent app, but why not allow support for the videos you download on the regular app? I'd take lower res video if I have to. It's a bummer.
I originally rated 1 star. Since then I figured out that *if* you find the secret menu in the ceiling you can adjust screen position and size allowing you to watch laying down. Controls are clunky, awkward and as far from intuitive as possible. It's like they said "See how good YouTube did this? Well don't copy that. Let's do it worse!". It's hard to skip forward or ahead on purpose. Accidentally is easy. Blurred edges... Just wanted more/expected better from Netflix.
I'm with everyone else this app would be 5 stars if you could download for offline time. Also to pin this screen to the ceiling for watching in bed is absolutely a necessity. Come on Netflix get together and update this app to its full potential. Thanks, love you guys.
Would be great if I could download some films or programmes to watch offline like the main app. This is great when stuck in hotel rooms to have a virtual cinema experience... Shame about the hotel's shoddy wi-fi. Please do keep up the good work.
Dumb. Guys, seriously. Just turn the motion detection off. I don't give a damn about the virtual room. I didn't strap a box to my face to feel like I'm in a room. Keep the screen perfectly centered REGARDLESS of movement. Deleted the whole digital environment. Make it like sitting in the optimized seating spot in an IMAX, so everything just fits in to your field of vision. And make that work so that if I am lying down watching it with headphones so while my wife is watch something on the big TV, it doesnt. F-ing.keep.moving...!
The App is heavily immersive and very simple to use my dad who gets bad motion sickness and hates the way technology is going put it on and watched star wars without an issue and loved it. Match the daydream with a good pair of headphones and you're basically at the movies when your really meant to be watching a chick flick with your partner. This was one of the main reasons why I wanted the VR to begin with. 5/5
Add support for other headsets, you did this on purpose and it is frustrating. I want to use my cheaper ,a comfy'r, better overall headset. Bobovr Z4
So Hulu is able to make an app that only appears once in the app drawer. Why does Netflix need 2? The VR version needs to be removed from the app drawer and only appear when daydream is active...Please fix
Great experience, just wish I could either do more in the room...Or change rooms ? Maybe a drive in ? Just saying atmosphere goes a long way.
A great start. Please add the ability to download content for playback offline, like the non-VR version of the app.. Then I can escape into your awesome content on a long haul plane trip, nirvana!
Pretty lame you need daydream to use. It looks awesome on Google cardboard and other vr phone headsets, it just requires daydream
Great VR app however it wouldve been great if it could sync my account through smartlock like the normal app does as using the keyboard in VR isn't the best experience.
I am simply unable to figure out how it works. Tried clicking every where and nothing seemed to even react. Using Utopia360
Now that it's updated on my daydream it's unusable. Navigation is a nightmare. It was 5* currently 1* totally worthless. Nice work guys I'll make sure to watch out for your updates to ruin my app in the future. Btw your series suck cancel Marco Polo deliver 1500 others 1/10 would be generous.I know it was too expensive you like Darma and Greg type cheap. Lucky you're making Castlevania daredevil and punisher. Even orange sucks now your taste is awful. -100/10
No smart lock for passwords or paste support... you expect me to memorise my password and shoot it at a wall?
Great in concept but the problem with watching video in daydream is the low resolution. I wish it had a feature to adjust screen distance like YouTube VR does. Also I'm not sure if this is just the app or daydream in general but I keep seeing something white move up and down across my left eye? Very distracting.
No offline support, does not work with third party headset, can't resize the TV. All of this issues makes me not use it =(
Daydream only. Doesn't work with Cardboard. You can start it up, but can't trigger anything because it expects you to use a Bluetooth controller instead of gaze or magnetic button. So it sucks. Hopefully they can get it to work as well as 99% of existing VR apps.
By far the best app for Google Daydream but couldn't give a five star because it doesn't support downloadable shows like the regular app does. Please add support for this!
It's just like normal Netflix and works well. However, I do wish that the app would allow you to recenter the screen straight up so that you could use the immersion technology while laying on the couch or in your bed.
Not sure why this doesn't have offline play but makes VR on the plane or traveling useless without wifi. Wasted app now.
It doesn't support offline mode like the normal Netflix app. Also, I wish you could more the display like for the YouTube VR app
It's lacking lots of basic options, but I hope it keeps getting updated.
Want to download shows for viewing on flights with no WiFi please. Also, ability to lay down and watch content along with more backgrounds to choose from.
Really needs to add offline support to bring this rating up to a 5. I can't watch VR movies on airplanes
Doesn't work with Shush ringtone restorer. Netfix VR crashes when both apps are installed on my Moto z force.
Love it! My quiet place away from home, just add some noise cancelling headphones and I'm in 360 heaven!
