Yes, this is the app you're looking for True FM radio functionality complete with static. (No data required!) Went running yesterday and listened to a local station the whole way. Includes an FM manual tuner, but also can use data to pull the available station info for your location so you can jump straight to the FM station you want. Can't figure out if it will also grab AM frequencies. I think that may be outside the abilities of most cell phones.
Great but give us the opportunity to get rid of the ads I've had NextRadio on my current phone and the one before. It works great! The album covers and song titles come up when the song changes. There is even a tuner only mode if you don't want to use data. What I would like to see is an ad free version. Give us the option of paying something to get rid of ads.
Compatibility How is a Note 5 not compatible? Unbelievable. EDIT: Received a notification from the app today saying it was finally available/supported on my device. I check it out only to find the app REQUIRES you to use WIRED HEADPHONES as they act as an antenna. SERIOUSLY? Completely annoying. My S3 years ago had a FM radio program that had great reception with only the device. Get it together. Technology should be convenient, useful, and fun.
Pros: plays over the air radio rather than consume data. Uses less battery power. Also for some stations it shows song information. Cons: can be difficult to change stations or shut down. Sometimes it locks up and does not respond to the stop button or quit menu item. I have to resort to restarting the phone to shut down the app. I have Android 5.0.2 running on an LG G2.
NextRadio IS where its AT! I love it! I've been looking for YEARS now to find a non-streaming FM Tuner! I had one on the first Chocolate Touch Screen, and have missed it dearly THANK YOU APP DEVELOPERS! I havent turned it off in almost 2 days! Happy Happy girl right here
Needs Work Unfortunately, I had multiple annoying issues, that made this app not so enjoyable, and eventually inoperative. For whatever reason, I would have volume spikes, when opening app, causing me to have to yank my earbuds out. Next I noticed that I could not make the app close, even when I select close all, in my app management, the player widget would still be up. It shouldn't be this difficult to close an app. The final issue, occurred this week, when all stations stopped working, all I get is white noise.
