About this app

Pop is the smart card for travelling on Tyne and Wear Metro.

Download the Pop card checker to look-up details of any Metro tickets that are stored on your Pop card; Concessionary Travel Pass (ENCTS); or card* using your NFC smart phone.

This app will allow you to:

• Check the expiry date of your Metro season ticket
• Check which zones your season ticket is valid in
• See the start date of your Metro season ticket

All without having to visit a Metro ticket machine!

The Pop card checker is compatible with the majority of NFC smart phones and tablets.

To use the app, simply:
1. Turn on the NFC function and Internet connection of your mobile device
2. Place your mobile device on top of a Pop card, ENCTS pass or U16 Pop card*
3. Hold steadily until the enquiry result shows.

*any other Nexus recognized smart card.

It would be extremely useful if the app provided a transaction history, I downloaded this because the popcard website is useless (i.e. showing a nil balance but there is money on the card) When you believe you've been charged twice due to a dodgy validator it would be helpful to check, alas it only gives a current balance

Having upgraded/replaced my old phone. I have found whilst I've managed to transfer most of my data over, the Pop Card Checker hasn't. As apparently it's not compatable despite my new phone a Nokia 2.4 being listed........

I'm on the beta test so my money should be loaded via this app. But like everything else on the metro it doesn't work! Oh and you need to hold the card to the reader for minutes. Why on earth they wasted so much money on this outdated technology is a mystery or the company paid the best bribes
