About this app

The NHS App gives you a simple and secure way to access a range of NHS services on your smartphone or tablet.

You can use the app if you are aged 13 or over. You must be registered with an NHS GP surgery in England or the Isle of Man.

You can also log in through the NHS website on a computer to use NHS App services.

Access NHS services
----------------------
Use the NHS App to access your NHS services, anytime and anywhere. You can request repeat prescriptions, use 111 online, find nearby NHS services and more.

Depending on your GP surgery, you may also be able to book appointments and contact your surgery about a health problem.

Manage your health
--------------------
The NHS App gives you a convenient way to view your health information, including your test results.

You can manage your upcoming appointments and prescription requests. You can also make choices about your health, like your organ donation decision.

Receive messages
-------------------
You can get important messages from your GP surgery and other NHS services through the app. Turning on notifications can alert you to new messages.

Manage services for other people
---------------------------------
You can switch profiles to access services for other people in the NHS App, such as a child or family member. Your GP surgery needs to give you access and you must both share the same surgery.

Log in securely
---------------
The NHS App will guide you through setting up an NHS login if you do not have one already. You will be asked to prove who you are. The app will then securely connect to information from your NHS services.

If your Android device supports fingerprint, face or iris recognition, you can use it to log in, every time you use the app.

This app is terrible, I try to login and I get a message stating I've been sent a code via email. I open that email, copy the code and go back onto the app (I do not close the app at any point) the app page has changed with the only option to select is continue, this takes you back to the first login page and you have to start the process again. After only a few attempts of the same thing happening, you're then locked out of your account. very frustrating!

The NHS App can currently only send security codes by text message. If your device supports fingerprint, face or iris recognition (biometrics) you can use it to log in to the app instead of a password and security code. The new version of the app is very confusing. It is no longer easy to navigate, they have gone for a one screen approach, which is not helpful at all. Before, you could access the GP section and all options related to your GP records were there (Consults, Tests, Medication etc). This has all been moved, and is now split across multiple different options on the Home page. You now have to have to navigate between multiple different options and keep receiving the sensitive records pop-up.

The recent update to the way your health information is organised within the sections on the home screen should improve your experience in finding the things you need in the NHS App. For more information about changes since our latest update visit www.nhs.uk/nhs-app/about/what-is-new and for help with using the app visit www.nhs.uk/nhs-app/help.

My previous review complained that the new version removed GP health record. I have just logged into the app again and it now works (including health records). Must be an intermittent issue, or only happens the first time you open the new version of the app. Either way, this needs looking at as many others have made the same complaint (and been told it is their fault for not looking through the navigation options). Back up to 2 stars - no more as it still doesn't support batch prescribing.
