I was in it for the aesthetics. But this awful character update changes everything. It's now impossible to create a visually pleasing character. Proportions are off and the faces look uncanny. Additionally the new walking animations look absolutely clunky. It's quantity over quality of choices now. If this is not reverted nor improved anytime soon I'll have to drop this game as I'm starting to feel repelled each time I open it up and see that abomination of a character staring blankly at me.

I applaud the notion of keeping the game running on older hardware by reducing visual quality, but only if you make it an OPTION (eg under Advanced Options). Game was running perfectly fine b4, now I am forced to live with this reduction of the # of gyms I can see & interact with on screen for no apparent reason. This change didn't improve performance on my device, it merely made the game less playable. PLEASE add an option for us to remove the new grey fog around the top edges of main screen.

Both game and Niantic support quality have decreased since the start of this year. Hard to tell what's a bug and what's a "feature" now with new vr buddy requirements suddenly kicking in, the avatar changes and more. Horrible lag and crashes every time my finger touches the screen. Stop making changes if you're only going to make it worse. If they cared about the players they'd fix these issues.
