Review from James Banks
Wmau Works excellent, connects in a snap, and I love the option to use my Galaxy S 3 to release the shutter on my Nikon D3200
WILL NOT CONNECT Just downloaded the app today and have been trying to use it. I have turned on the WiFi on my camera and connected it to my phone, but when I open the app it says that the camera is not connected to my phone. I AM connected to the camera, but the app says I am not.... so which is it? I like the idea, but I think you need to fix it. The WiFi is built into the camera yet we cannot use it without the app...... that makes no sense. We should be able to send the pics to our email or Dropbox other than this app..
Nikon is missing common sense settings/options I have an AW130, which saves photos as jpg which even on high quality, still means compressed. In this app there are no settings to copy over the full size image in bulk. The last thing i think your customers would want is to recompress an already compressed image. This takes away quality of the photo even further. In settings for the app you list "VGA" or "Recommended." Both option reduce quality. If you add pictures one by one you have to select original size for each one.
Well, it works...kinda This is an app that performs limited functions but when it performs them they are useful. Your main issues are that the connection drops constantly and sometimes when your phone is connected to the camera via WiFi it still doesn't detect it and you may need to close and reopen the app once or twice. When it works, you can take photos remotely using the live viewfinder on the phone's screen and view and download any or all of the photos on the camera and this is definitely useful functionality to have
Limited functionality This could be so good. It is definitely useful to be able to see and take photos remotely, but I wish I could control even just aperture and shutter speed with this app - not being able to is a bit like having my hands tied behind my back when taking photos! Also it keeps losing wi-fi connection. Come on Nikon!
Does not work! My phone will not stay connected for longer than 30 seconds. Not even long enough to transfer a single photo! In addition to that, the app must be force killed every time or it will remain running until your batteries are dead. Do yourself a favor and return the wireless receiver. I was told that Nikon produces quality products. I will buy Canon in the future.
Limited photo capability and no video support Very basic application with truly limited capabilities. Great if you want to take some ahits without pressing the shutter, otherwise not much use. Major dislikes are: no app exit option - has to be killed; no control of video (using with D750)...at least allow me to hit record/stop. Needs a few more revisions before it is really helpful. I would be happy to pay for a fully functioning app.
-The app now supports the Nikon 1 J5.
-The app now supports brightness adjustment via live image control on the Nikon 1 J5.
