Touchdown used to right at the top of the pack. But it's become just too much trouble to use. It should be great but it isn't great for me. The new interface is so much better and I really like the Calendar. But it still feels like a legacy app - and this is the only Exchange client I've used that can't auto-discover my Office 365 settings. More importantly, it's not stable on my Huawei tablet. Nine email/tasks/calendar gives me more or less the same features with a really nice up-to-date look and feel - and it's been hassle free. Here's hoping Symantic puts more resources in to Touchdown!
This provides all the functionality of a complete PIM (Personal Information Management) program with an easy to use interface specifically designed for tablets. Nitrodesk designed a winner and so far Norton has done a good job of maintaining the most reliable, comprehensive, and integrated Andriod PIM on the market. As business user, it is important that I keep my business and person PIM data separated. Touchdown dose this effectively by keeping each email address as an independent profile. My employer is assured that they can monitor my work, as required by law, without compromising either my personal data or my privacy, allowing me to use a tablet of my choice. They get security and compliance, and I get effective functionality with my choice of device. We both win. All this said, HD IS NOT FOR SMART PHONES! There is a separate app designed for phones. HD IS STRICTLY INTENDED FOR TABLETS!
In a business environment this app is not that bad. It is one place for mails, appointments, notes and contacts that are all synced with exchange. There is just one really really annoying bug. When I open a Mail via a Notification the back button is exiting the app instead of going back to the inbox. Also the settings are unfortunately spread across lots of different places im the app.
Used to be THE mail client to have... Not so much anymore. Like everyone else I agree that the app was great until Symantec got ahold of it. Stability issues, lost features, poor UI choices, poor searching, copy and paste issues. Inability to inspect link destinations is dangerous and makes it harder to identify malicious emails or phishing attempts.
I have used this app for a few years and the app itself works pretty well. The main problem is with the orange interface since Symantec bought the software. The themes are just ridiculous and the orange color is a bad choice of epic proportions. It is especially bad on text screens to reply pop up and you can't read the text because of the orange color. Update: finally gave up and uninstalled it and switched to a different app.
PROS: An even better GUI, Excellent Customer Support! Great Office365 E3 Outlook connectivity, critical to my business. Touchdown Tech Support is responsive, informed, and effective. The feature set and options are a 'Must Try' if you are looking for a great Android Outlook interface. The newer 'Touchdown HD' is a solid GUI improvement, and, if Touchdown VENUS is "HD with improvements", I think we're go. CONS: It can be a little slow. The meeting times can be an hour off during the 2 weeks a year, when there is a Daylight Savings Time. My biggest complaint is that this is the 2nd or 3rd year of this problem. Overall, very nice.
