The game is nearly perfect but this balancing is very frustrating. All of the first world is the hardest beginning of a roguelite I've ever played. It's so difficult to even beat the first boss that I don't want to even really try especially because it only gets harder like in the vault where the stage has a rising damage zone so you can't take your time.

Tower fortress is an amazing game. It's not afraid to slap you down for being too aggressive or too slow, but is just lax enough that it allows nearly all players to enjoy it. The game's specific systems are fairly simple to understand as well, and the game only plays with four buttons. The game has very little complexity, but a large amount of depth, such as learning how to bait bats in the first area to fly to you, or learning efficient ways to utilize the wall jump. These are just examples.

I still play this regularly. Absolute blast to play. So many unlockable suits provide different challenges and play styles. Ads are not intrusive and skippable. The difficulty curve is right in the sweet spot: not too hard, but always keeps you engaged. The shotgun and seeker suits practically break the game's challenge, but it's still fun to speed run the game, which can be beaten in about 15 minutes. Can't recommend the game enough.
