About this game

A game I made
For a certain kind of person

To hurt them.

Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy is a punishing climbing game, a homage to Jazzuo's 2002 B-Game classic 'Sexy Hiking'. You move the hammer with the mouse, and that's all there is. With practice, you'll be able to jump, swing, climb and fly. Great mysteries and a wonderful reward await the master hikers who reach the top of the mountain.

To quote Jazzuo himself: "The hiking action is very similar to way you would do it in real life, remember that and you will do well".

• Climb up an enormous mountain with nothing but a hammer and a pot.
• Listen as I make philosophical observations about the problem at hand.
• Between 2 and ∞ hours of agonizing gameplay, depending. The median time to finish for my playtesters was 5 hours, but the mean was closer to ∞.
• Lose all your progress, over and over.
• Feel new types of frustration you didn't know you were capable of.

I understand it's a rage game and that's part of the fun, but god the controls are garbage on mobile. Your hammer behaves as if it has a mind of its own because you have next to no accuracy with your fingers, which cover part of the screen anyways. This game is great on PC, since you have that accuracy with a mouse. However a mobile port just wasn't necessary. You almost need a pen to even get past the first obstacle

Weirdly, I find the controls on mobile to be easier than on PC. Not nearly as frustrating (tho still plenty of cursing and gnashing of teeth - but then, that's the point!). Definitely a wonderful little time-killer, if you can get into the idea of it. Keep in mind that the game is not meant to be easy and you'll learn to love it.

For the love of god PLEASE add a thumbstick option or at least Controller support, the control system for the mobile edition on this game is sloppy and is an absolute migraine to deal with, of course I got this game on mobile after practically mastering it on the PC version but this just makes the game insufferable, I understand that its the game's whole purpose but it should have GOOD mechanics for It's controls. There is absolutely no reason it shouldn't be added.
