This is an app to collect scouting data during the 2019 Deep Space FRC competitions. The app is in compliance with all FRC Rules as it does NOT require any connection (Bluetooth, internet, data, etc) and is specifically optimized for use on any Android tablet. This app was developed by FRC Team 548, the Robostangs, who are based in Northville, Michigan.
The app is organized to collect the data during the Sandstrom, Tele-Op, and Endgame. This application is designed to be part of a whole scouting system that works with seven total tablets used by the scouters, including one tablet to combine data from the 6 other tablets into one file for data analysis/dumping. Each tablet collects data for a single robot on the field and produces a QR Code on submission. The six individual QR codes may be scanned with the output being written into a text file. That text file may then be imported into tools such as Tableau or Excel for further data analysis.
What makes the app unique is its user-friendly interface. The app does not require any special knowledge and only a basic understanding of Destination: Deep Space. The app uses buttons and dropdowns for specific selection and allows the user to focus on the game without doing too much work. The app also has options for every possible game outcome so the data can be properly analyzed. This application saves every QR code generated in the device's gallery (camera roll), in the event a QR code is not able to be scanned directly after the match.
