Japanese Vocabulary JLPT N5-N1 by notaps is a quiet vocabulary app for learners who want less tapping and more contact with real Japanese.

Open it and the words start playing. You do not tap to begin. Each word arrives with its kanji, its hiragana reading, romaji, the meaning in your language, and an example sentence read aloud, so you hear the pronunciation before you try to produce it.

LEVELS AND JLPT
Four levels of everyday Japanese vocabulary, mapped to where they sit on the JLPT scale:

• Level 1 — basics, around JLPT N5 and N4
• Level 2 — everyday words, around JLPT N4 and N3
• Level 3 — advanced, around JLPT N3 up to N1
• Level 4 — mastery, around JLPT N2 and N1

Words carry a JLPT tag where one exists, shown beside the reading together with the pitch accent. Idioms, business terms, famous quotes and your own word list are separate lists you can switch to at any time.

LISTENING FIRST
This is a listening app before it is a flashcard app. The audio moves on its own, so the phone can stay in your pocket on a commute, sit on the counter while you cook, or run quietly before sleep. Plug in headphones and playback starts; unplug and it stops, so the words never carry on out loud through the speaker. A sleep timer stops it for you.
