It can be improved. Would be tremendously beneficial to have a mute button for the mobile app. that's easily accessible. Right now the only way to mute sound is to fumble around with the volume control which is not always conveniently located. Also, fix the surround sound issue so that its not all or nothing. None of my recent vintage devices can process the surround sound. Roku seems to be ok. Other similar products don't have this issue and neither should this one.

I love the device, but the app for fire tv is awful. It works great when it works, but often it will not connect, even after performing the recommended fixes--restarting the device and restarting the router. The only thing that works is to uninstall and reinstall, but since I mostly use the Tablo to play recorded programs when I'm on the road and have no internet connection, downloading it again is not possible. Very aggravating. The app for android phone does not fail to connect as often.

Very user unfriendly. I spent a couple of hours getting the unit to talk to my tv. I didnt watch it for a few weeks and suddenly its no longer connected. Now I'm spending hours trying to get them connected again. Grrrr Update: A few months later I can say I've never used a more glitchy POS. I have spent MANY hours trying to get it to work properly. Now it's lost the connection all together. After 45 mins w/technical and mid diagnosis, it was closing time and the call was disconnected. Terrible.
