A few things you can do in Horizon…

■ Discover Thousands of Experiences
Explore and download games, apps and worlds. Jump into multiplayer games, live concerts, comedy shows and more together. You can use the Horizon app to start experiences on your headset, put it on, and jump in.

■ Customize Your Avatar
Express yourself any way you like. Mirror the way you look in real life, or take on a unique look. Complete quests to unlock avatar styles, items and emotes.

■ Invite Friends To Join
Keep playing on your phone while outside of the headset. Encourage friends and family to download the Meta Horizon app from their mobile device so you can explore together.

■ Set up a Meta Quest
Set up a device for the first time and manage your experience while outside of the headset. You can customize settings for everyone in the family, with permissions available for children (10-12) and teens (13+).

Lately I can't even look at games in the store. It says "Something went wrong" and I have to back out. It also loves to get in a weird state where it opens a random store game 3 layers deep and so I have to hit the X button 3 or 4 times. The casting functionality has been in poor state for years where you can't see most of your games in your library to launch on the headset. Meta's "move fast and break stuff" motto is in full force here leaning particularly hard into the breaking stuff side.

There's no point buying a Meta headset. I was one of the earliest Oculus supporters and devs, but now you can't use the headset unless it's paired to this horrendous excuse for an app, which BTW doesn't work. After connecting to WiFi, you can't progress with the setup unless you finish the safety video, which simply will not play. Support team is useless and will gaslight you until you show photo evidence, then close the chat when you do. Unless you want an expensive paperweight, DO NOT BUY.

The app does what it's supposed to for the most part. It's just slow as sin. I can stream 4k video from YouTube off my data just fine. This takes me about 5 minutes to load 2 seconds of 1080p video. It takes forever to download the videos as well and sometimes will just stop in the middle of downloading. This should be convenient but it's less of a hassle to just upload footage to Google drive through the headset's browser than using the official app. It's a shame.
