DriveAlert is the Drowsiness Detection app.
This app will keep you from falling a sleep at the wheel by using a HRV(Heart rate Variability) and generate SWM (Steering wheel movement) signals to actively monitor drowsiness and make accurate detections of the driver’s current state.
Heart Rate Variability (HRV) reflects the balance between sympathetic and parasympathetic activity. Slower HRV rhythms (LF) indicate increased sympathetic and/or lower vagal activity,wakefulness characteristics, While faster HRV rhythms (HF) indicate lower sympathetic and/or increased parasympathetic and vagal activity, sleepy characteristics and Monitoring steering-wheel movements is a well- documented method of detecting driver drowsiness. Accelerometer-estimated steering-wheel rotation and the actual steering-wheel rotation suggests that accelerometers and Gyro on the smart watch sensor can be a useful tool to monitor the steering-wheel movements for the detection of drowsy driving.
Motivation: A common activity in most people’s life is driving; therefore, making driving safe is an important issue in everyday life. Even though the driver’s safety is improving in road and vehicle design, the total number of serious crashes is still increasing and most of these crashes result from impairments of the driver’s attention.
How to Awake Users:
Smart watch and your phone will make an Alert Sound & Vibration. And you can turn off the alert by shaking your wrist.
Nearby Cafe&Rest Area Button:
When you feel sleepy while driving, You can check nearby Cafe&Rest Area with a single click, and even show you the route.
We are partnering with an auto insurance companies so you can reduce your auto insurance costs by using this app and Monitor driving activity with (location, direction, speed, traffic, and more) using Google Maps. Examples of "Driver's data" may include “Numbers of drowsy per day”, “The amount of minutes spends driving per Day driving”,”The amount of minutes spends driving per Night driving” . “Total amount of minutes spends driving per day”.
Currently,We are working on feature to automatically detects car accidents and sends user's medical information and notification with the location of the car crash to the hospital.
Wrist Bands, Watches and Other HR Devices:
True Heart Rate Variability calculations require accurate measurement of the time between each heart beat. For accuracy and multi use purposes we recommend the Polar H7 or similar Heart Rate Strap. We are continuously researching the application of wrist HR monitors, pulse oximetry, ear clip and other options. When we are satisfied with accuracy and quality of these devices, we will let you know.
Disclaimer: Although we improve our auto Drowsy algorithm in a daily basis, please understand that given the limitations of the internal sensors of your Wearable Device we might not be able to detect certain Drivers Drowsiness. We still think is super useful in case of emergency to have DriveAlert installed.
