App works great; feels compact and is visually nice, esp with the dark mode. Would be better if you could click on a sub and subscribe while within, instead of going back to menu and choosing "Manage Subreddit". Otherwise Bacon Reader has been great. Would recommend. EDIT: LoL I knew someone would come along and tell me I haven't been looking hard enough. So, for fellow Baconer who didn't know, click Menu while within the subreddit and click View Sidebar. Thanks for the info, OneLouder Apps!
Ads are intrusive on the front page. Comments don't sort and frequently repeat. The upvote/downvote and link buttons have been moved from the bottom (super convenient) to the top of the screen (makes pressing them much less convenient). This used to be my most used app but these changes are a step backwards. The UI is prettier, that's the only good from this update. Edit: they've fixed all of my issues above, it's great now!
I understand you need to show ads. That's fine. It's just if I close an ad which is at the bottom of the screen, a new one will pop up after less than a minute, even if I haven't changed thread. Update: a year later, and this has still not been fixed which is a real pity as it is a great app other than this persistent annoyance
Edit: After a couple updates, this app is great. I use it all the time for my redditing with minor to no issues. Would recommend now. Previous review: I started using BR before ads started and I could tolerate the small bar at the bottom. Since the last update, this app is unusable without the remove ads purchase. Every page change loads a full screen ad that cannot be closed until completely loaded. Aside from that the whole BR experience is great. The best part being that it remembers where you were if you push back. The interface is clean and has improved greatly within the last month. I would recommend to pay $2 or search elsewhere for a free app.
Edit: Yet again, after this recent update, ads appear again. Still without fail, every time this app updates, ads reappear. I paid ages ago to remove them, and for the longest time it worked fine. Restarting the phone sometimes works, and then sometimes it doesn't. There's no option to "restore purchases" either.
I can't even use reddit on my computer anymore. Also the support is crazy. Onelouderchic or however you spell her name will answer questions before you can even submit them! Totally worth the price to get rid of adds. Support devs who support you back. Haven't changed reddit apps since I found this years ago
