About this app

The Pilgrim's Credential is an official App of the Spanish Federation of Associations of Friends of the Way of Santiago, made up of non-profit associations distributed by almost all the Autonomous Communities of the Spanish State.

With this App it has not been intended to replace the current paper Credential, but to live with it and use it when the times in which it is not favorable to seal on paper is the means with which the pilgrims obtain their stamps.

The use of mobile devices by the vast majority of the world's population is an important reason to think that they are a useful tool for pilgrims.

Due to the Covid-19 virus, personal relationships between pilgrims and people stamping paper Credentials are not recommended for health reasons. With the digital Credential this danger is avoided since it is the pilgrim himself who stamps through his mobile device and the paper does not circulate among people. In turn, the existing problem regarding the deterioration of the paper disappears with this new way of sealing.

With this Credential, the new generations will feel more identified, technology is already part of their lives.

The alternative to paper is also going to be important in terms of what it means to spread the idea of respect for the environment.

The impossibility of obtaining all the stamps on a single paper Credential forces pilgrims to choose which stamps to obtain so that they become part of their personal Credential. Now it will no longer be a problem, the obtaining of the stamps is unlimited and all will be documented in the place, day and time that they were obtained.

The necessary requirements to obtain the digital Certificate continue to be maintained. To validate the Credential and obtain the Digital Certificate it is necessary to arrive in Santiago and if the Camino was done on foot, the last 100Km must be done on consecutive days and two stamps per day must be made. If, on the other hand, the Camino is done by bicycle, it will be 200km that will have to be done on consecutive days, maintaining the completion of the two stamps per day.
