I love Open Table. Even if I don't want actual reservations, I use it to check out menus and reviews. I haven't figured out if there is a way to search for restaurants by certain things like brunch or late night but that would be a nice option. For a while they changed it such that you couldn't see restaurant info unless you picked a time for a reservation. But, fortunately they quickly realized the error of their ways and changed it back.
With a recent update I find that Open Table has taken a step backwards in it's ability to recognize where you are and offer recommendations for restaurants that are located around you. You have to input the exact town or you can't find the place you are looking for. So searching for places to eat in the greater Buffalo area, it won't show places close to Buffalo in Hamburg or Cheektowaga. When you do a search it will show you matches for places it other states. Frustrating!
Interface requires guessing, is not very intuitive for occasional users. Saved favorites are hard to find again. App assumes you want to eat on location, then you must re-jiggle all settings every time you need a different selection. Good overall.
The app is great when it works. For several days while trying to make a reservation I would get a message saying their having problems with their servers. I understand this occasionally but this occurred for several days in a row.
Love how easy it is to use. It helps save me the hassle of wait times and knowing what to wear, simply very informative and I love it! Have had no problems yet.
Open Table has been great at making reservations at old favorites and introducing me to new, delicious restaurants. I just wish that all of our favorites were part of the app. I have used it while traveling which is fantastic because I don't always know anything about the restaurants where I am and this allows me to look at menus, location, and ratings.
