I used Opera years ago and quite enjoyed it. Then it somehow got behind other browsers in terms of performance and unfortunately I moved on. In 2017 I decided to give it another go and I'm so glad that I did, it's improved beyond my expectations, it's fast, secure, reliable and overall amazing in every way possible, capable of doing everything other popular browsers can do and more. I also highly recommend its PC version as well, it's far superior to its competitors and offers excellent privacy options, you won't regret it.
I, too, used to use Opera when it first came out. Then it changed and fell behind. They had gotten rid of the Speed Dial also. So, I stopped using it. My son showed me a new browser he found called Opera! I told him I used it before. He said it was awesome so I tried it again. Love it and love my speed dial back. Not sure why people keep saying you can't turn off the news feed. I had no problems turning it off. Welcome back Opera!
Long time Opera user here. Although I have moved on to Vivaldi on PC, Opera is a great mobile browser, the killer feature being the way it reformats text to fit the screen on the fly when zooming. ALL mobile browsers should do this, but they sure as hell don't, so full marks to Opera for implementing this feature. Highly recommended!
I didn't choose to install this app, it just showed up. I wouldn't have known about it if not for the fact that it gave me specialized push notifications to update it. You DO NOT get to both infect my phone with your garbage app AND waste my time with pointless notifications. It'd be a little different if I still used Opera on PC, but since it's literally identical to Chrome I use Vivaldi now. Uninstalled.
I've used versions of Opera mobile for over ten years now, and it's brilliant. The main reason I've marked it down is that I don't like how the bookmark sync works, and you can't set speed dial as the default when opening new tabs but still keep the speed dial. Also I don't like the new speed dial background colour. Apart from that this is staying as my default browser.
The new update gets a lot intrusive. News, trending and all that just gets in the way. This is the only browser I relied upon and they ruined this too. Went down a couple stars after the upgrade. No setting to disable trending and other tabs either. I hope they step down from trying to be the new UC browser. To others who feel like I do, try Via browser.
