Great! I used the desktop version over Firefox due to its stability. Now, I enjoy using the mobile version, too! The only gripe I have is the new mobile UI is not as efficient as the old one. Also, add an option to retrieve the desktop version of web sites from mobile device, then Opera will be a five-star web browser.
Very good. Would like to be able to see security certificates for websites and a clearer secure page lock icon. EDIT: The latest update includes swipe up to browse feature. I do not want or need this feature; but I cannot find a way to disable it. I keep accidentally activating this feature whilst using a different browser, it's driving me mad. HOW DO I DISABLE IT? Latest update: has an annoying and distracting toolbar at the bottom of webpage; yes I have ticked to hide it, but it comes back with a tiny swipe down to get in my eye line again... annoying, annoying, annoying.
no longer movable to extSdCard on Android 6.0.1, but still moveable to extSdCard on Android 5.0.1 -- an app manifest screw up??? I want to be able to kill ALL push notifications ("news" and other baloney) in Settings. HATE the permanent home page (idiotic feature). all I need Opera to be is a reliably HUMBLE browser -- not one thing more...
The new version is full of poorly written unsubstantiated "news" that I can't get rid of, that now has started popping things up on my phone's alert screen. I just wanted a web browser, was good, now it's crap, uninstall.
Slow slow. The new version is totally slow, ressources consuming. Every time I launched it my phone become laggy. Opening tab keeps refreshing every time you switch application. Please bring back the old version.
I have been an Opera user for a few years now and find it to be excellent for my requirements and happily recommend it to anyone looking for an alternative to the stock browsers supplied with Android phones and tablets. Give it a try, I doubt you'll be disappointed. That said, I have one wish, that being that the user had the option in the settings menu to stop it continually asking whether or not to store a password. Update 4/1/17 - I must say I preferred the previous UI to this new one and, like others, would like the option to retain the old one. I have always given Opera a 5* rating but have decreased it to 3* now and hope that the developers take note.
