Dream of the Red Chamber, originally titled The Story of the Stone, is the foremost of the four great classical Chinese novels. It was written by the eminent Qing dynasty author Cao Xueqin, who devoted his life's work to it, "reading and revising for ten years, adding and deleting five times."
