I just have to say wow. I have used overdrive out of necessity for the last year because I needed to get my books from the library to save money. Overdrive was far from the prettiest app but it worked after you learned the quirks. This new app is gorgeous, check outs are much easier ( I don't know if there are still limited on hold which was annoying). I checked out my book and for the first time am reading within the app rather than sending the book to Kindle (I am still happy that option is still available). Thanks to the developers for a very user friendly app.
Most importantly it is reliable. Would like to have a dark / night mode and on the widget as well. Can we have a resizable widget? Overdrive has a 1x1 saving space on the screen. Also Libby doesn't allow you to return items early. And Libby needs a new hairstyle, so could we please have a more stylish icon.
The design and easy access to bookshelf and holds section is great but the app pauses audio playback randomly and often. It loses my listening progress and says I was recently listening on another device when I haven't been. Also the icon in the notification and lock screen is dark and invisible on most themes.
Great interface and simple UI but right now it's too glitchy to be my my daily driver. It often forgets my progress in an audio book and then I have to manually find my place. This app has so much promise but for now I'm going to have to stick with Overdrive.
Needs work. Constantly skips me back to the beginning of books and the user interface is not intuitive.
Why not just fix the Overdrive app already on my tablet? Why are reviewers excited about adding multiple library cards? It's asinine at best since you can only add multiple cards from ONE library system for searching. I was under the impression I would be able to add all five of my library cards from five different library systems and do one search. Does not appear so. If you can't fix the Overdrive app, then a new app is pointless. The features on Overdrive are no longer easily accessible on Libby. I no longer seem to have one complete bookshelf. And the text rotates when the device rotates. I can't find the option to stop the "book" from rotating. While writing this review, one of my books on hold became available but it took me five minutes just to locate the notice within the app and return the book (since I've already read it after placing it on hold.) TOO MANY PROBLEMS FOR A REPLACEMENT APP when it does not offer one improvement. NOT ONE.
