Love this app and have used it for years in both mobile and my Linux boxes. You guys are great developers - the massive UI updates that happened awhile ago (a year maybe?) threw me off, but the free product is great. I'm going to but it right now just to send some dev luv your way. Cheers!
This is a excellent network monitoring tool for anyone of any skill level. It helps you determine what devices are connected to the network and allows you to backup and save that information. For those who are unsure of the sign up, this allows you to backup all the information and the device names that you assign to what is on your network. Very helpful for those who are deploying large networks and need to be able to identify the various switches and devices that are on the network.
Sometimes I have to refresh up to three times to get the app to flag up a connected device and indeed to get Fing to release an already disconnected device. Many times I have to refresh repeatedly to get Fing to list the devices that I know are connected. That's not good when you consider what the app is intended for. On the other hand, finally- the issue where an update resets to "daylight view" seems to have been sorted. We'll see. I have only knocked a star off because of the constant "last chance" offers of the same discount on a Fing Box. (Hint: it's far too expensive right now.)
The latest version cannot identify the SSID of the scanned network coming up with instead. This makes this otherwise excellent tool useless, as you can no longer separate individual scans. I have had to stop using it.
With phones, TVs, printers, streaming boxes and multiple access points becoming common in residential LANS, this tool is essential in tracking down duplicate IPs and vanishing connections. Problems can appear after rebooting a router with DHCP when devices remember their old IPs. Use this app to follow what is happening on your LAN. Hint: Spend the time to fill in device details. Then you will easily locate the troublemaker when problems appear. Information is reliable and the app is fully stable. Recent updates show even more device details as well as identifying which device is your Access Point.
I use this almost daily, both for work and home. Former MS and Cisco certified. Retired now but still do a lot of consulting and this software gives you a quick and easy overview of a network.
