Review from Robert Lynch
Great way to track investments I use this app every day. Runs great, helpful service.
I've been having 2 problems for last couple weeks and have not received a response through email also. 1. When linking an account, if you get the password wrong, you don't get a chance to correct it cuz after clicking "link" it automatically uses the same credentials which is wrong, then asks you to delete it, starting the cycle over and over. 2. When linking websites that have an additional security such as receiving the code to the phone. Personal capital asks you to enter the code on the linking setup but the code never gets delivered.
The app and personal capital service are very useful to help track spending and saving (and monitor investments, including 401k / retirement plans). Sometimes there have been issues with some accounts updating but that seems to be fixed now and the app works well.
Longtime customer here. Seems as though Android development has stalled -- some obvious usability issues haven't been addressed for years. Examples: 1. On the holdings screen, switching the time range doesn't change the numbers at the top (which are one-day values). There is also no line for the "0" axis. 2. On the Net Worth screen, no way to 'scrub' the chart to see what the actual values are. 3. No way to view account balances over time (unless they are investment accounts, which you can see via the Portfolio screen). Not sure if when if any of these features are planned for any future release, but please throw us Android Users a bone every once in a while.
I downloaded the app over a week ago.. i was able to link most of my cards and amounts that I wanted to. However I've been trying to link my discover card. The app says "it's having trouble, and the issues usually resolve itself within 24-48 hours." It's been much longer than that. I've emailed customer service 3 times, and haven't even gotten a response let alone resolution. Everything else about the app is nice, this is irritating though.
I enjoy this app very much and use it on a daily basis, however the one issue that I constantly have is the problem of the app counting incoming deposits into my Vanguard account on top of that deposit that is currently still in my bank account. For example, if I contribute $1,000 to my IRA today Personal Capital will read the $1,000 going into my Vanguard account but still count it as being in my bank account, therefore I now have $2,000 according to the app when in reality it is $1,000 leaving my bank and going to my investment account. This is a problem because when dealing with larger percentages of my net worth there is an artificial fluctuation that does not actually reflect my real net worth. It throws off all the numbers. Please fix or let me know if I am doing something wrong.
Used to work. Then my accounts started getting out of sync. Then it wouldn't connect with this account, that account, next one, another one. I click repair, it goes through some steps, but never did reconnect. I tried deleting and re-adding the accounts. Nope. Finally it's just got so many accounts that won't connect, that it's not useful anymore. I guess this is a cat and mouse game with the banks not wanting automatic logins. Ok, I can give my bank permission. I gave the power company permission to share my data with a power tracking app. So. When will there be a solution?
+ Fix date range range for last month.
