Review from Jasper van Stijn
The app is a great improvement on the original Hue app, to the extent I now use it as a way to control my lighting rather than a third party application. The original Hue app was a pile of crud. One small bug I've had recently is a persistent "trying to connect" notification, which I'd like to be able to dismiss, or at least to have disappear when it successfully manages to ping (or send a command) to the hub.
Crappy software. So buggy. I don't understand how this was released to the app store in this condition. Can't really log in, ever. It says it is logged in but it is not. SO LIMITED in capabilities and the functionality seems to have been an afterthought. What the heck happened Hue Devs? Time for a change.
- Lacks on options and adjusting lights only by touching the colorpallet is insufficient. Option to see and set code would be great - Can't group lights together. for example: bedroom has several light bulbs and 1 at either side of the bed. There is no way to make those 2 lights work as one in this app without removing them from the room first. - Working The slider is just odd. Start with 1% for every bulb in a room. Move the slider to 25% would mean, that ALL light should be 25% but it does not! They all have different value!? This is an app issue i believe. Based on visual judgement the fysical lights all have the same level. + The app looks good and throughout the day access for quick adjusting settings is childsplay +/- Overall needs more options. Especially to group lights together is in my opinion essential for future releases This app is okay at best considering the posibilities of the technology .
Since "upgrading" to the gen 2 app we are no longer able to use our scenes from gen one. We routinely have to remove and re add our bulbs to hue after our bulbs become mysteriously unresponsive. It''s a real pain to get the colors we want anymore. I can no control remotely or stay logged in. Basically you've screwed up every thing I bought hue bulbs for. Your DRM update to block manufacturers that don't pay the "friends of hue" extortion fees also limit the usefulness of MY hue hub.
Had a setup which worked fine, got a new android phone, installed latest version of the app, now it can't find the hue bridge. I've tried turning it all off and back on, reinstalled the app, nothing. The app will not navigate away from the search new bridge page, hence it's useless. Complete waste of money.
Bad Update. Since updating the software my bulbs are almost always "unreachable" and laggy. For $50 a lightbulb I expected to be able to at least turn the lights on and off remotely.
- App icon is now adaptive for Android O.
- Resolved an issue where some new users could not find their Hue bridge.
- Various bug fixes and stability improvements.
App for setting the luminaire easily for lighting control and reading the status
