Philips DreamMapper has access to the following permissions:

Approximate location (network-based): This is to set up Bluetooth communication. A location is required to acquire the pair.

Read the contents of your USB storage: This is needed to access the scanned and stored image that the camera takes of the Device Serial Number (DSN).

Read the contents of your USB storage: This is a way to access the DSN image that might be stored on the SD card (some Androids devices store images to the SD card). This is the default behavior when you ask for the Photo/Media/Files access.

Take pictures and videos: Used to scan the DSN.

Other reasons
Receive data from Internet: DreamMapper needs to communicate with its Data Center.
View network connections: Wi-Fi setup as well as the need for DreamMapper to communicate with its Data Center.
Pair with Bluetooth devices: First-time connection to another Bluetooth device.
Access Bluetooth settings: First-time connection to another Bluetooth device.
Full network access: DreamMapper needs to communicate with its Data Center.
Prevent device from sleeping: Prevents the phone from “going to sleep” while playing videos.

I had rated this five stars but with the most recent update the app has ceased recording my usage properly and it's really upsetting. ETA: since getting the DreamStation 2, I've never had more trouble with the app than I do now. It constantly wants me to reconnect to Bluetooth, constantly wants me to pair and re-pair with the device, I always end up having to uninstall the app and reinstall it just to get it to work right.

This app does nothing 99% of the time. It doesn't pair with Bluetooth. It only gathers data since it was installed. It frequently requires reinstallation to troubleshoot, thereby deleting all previous data. Though it seems like it would be useful to know the medical data about your machine, you're better off just setting weekly alarms on your phone to remind you when to replace filters or clean the device. It's entirely useless and a huge waste of time trying to troubleshoot. 0.1 stars.

App's validation of serial numbers is wrong, so I had to make an account on the website. Then I logged in and sync'd with my CPAP and it said it successfully downloaded new data, but no numbers or data was displayed. Everything was blank. App is very buggy. If you switch apps or turn your phone off and back on, it crashes, and has to restart its slow data download.

What's new

DreamMapper is making it easier to identify your device serial number by upgrading our scanning capability. We continue to expand our ability to communicate with you by translating DreamMapper into Greek, Hungarian, Slovenian, and Norwegian.  Then, in our quest to improve our app, we have made some defect corrections and performance updates.
