lots of functionality. lots. but waaaaay to many knobs. too many moving parts to this thing. and i just don't grok the gui layout and organization. i have to google just about every change i want to make as i can't determine what to do from the gui. oh, and there is no support from plex, *everything* is done via the forums. for example: i want to organize my movies by release date as i like old movies (30's, 40's, 50's) but there is no way to do that.and this question/complaint goes unanswered on the forums.
Works good except for crummy interface I like this app a ton. For me, it's been much better than PlayOn, etc. Still, the interface is terribly confusing. Initially finding what you've recorded doesn't make any sense (to me) at all. It insists on Views that may not be the view you want. They would be better served to clean up the Interface before adding features.
Best Cord Cutting DVR Solution For 3+ years PLEX (paid version) has been part of my home built DVR solution. It lets me stream live tv, recorded tv and movies to 10+ family accounts at home and when traveling. PLEX uses MPAA ratings to block inappropriate content from kids. PLEX is my DVR for Smart TV, PC, Android, iOS, and Kindle devices. It streams the following media types: 1) Live TV using HomeRunTV/HD Antenna/HDHR Viewer. 2) Recorded TV using HomeRunTV/NPVR/MCEBuddy/FileBOT. 3) Sync content to devices when traveling without WIFI.
Thumbs up from me!!!! Great app and works like it says on the tin. Great if you have kids as you can watch films on your phone (I use it on my android phone) while you wait to drop them of at school. My only gripe is that for every device you use it on you have to activate it either with a subscription or a one off payment. If you use it on multiple devices can be costly but saying that it's worth every penny.
Best home server Great most of the time. It has all of the options I need and want, it's just sometimes not intuitive. Other then that it's my go to program for personal music, photos and video
Android app can no longer see a Plex server on a local network on a Samsung phone at the very least.... iOS devices fine.... PLEASE FIX!!!!!!!!!!! UPDATE: I had to change my Plex settings to "Preferred' for Secure Connections. I had to disable this to get my XBox to work though; so 3 stars for now until I can confirm all devices work. (Used to be 5 stars!)
• 'Switch to TV layout' option would freeze the app on some phones.
