Nickel and Dimed. It's absurd that you have to not only pay for the app for every device in your family but then they also charge for the subscription service. I get paying for the service, what I don't get is why I have to pay for the app for every person in my family. This should be part of the family share program!
Seriously cool app. Enhances your computer multi media files exceptionally. Took small amount of router manipulation, nothing too complicated for an average user. Actually most newer routers won't have a problem at all. Serves all of my media music movies television to my portable devices flawlessly , adds metadata to all movie and video files at a professional letvel. Can acclaim enough.
Simply put, Plex is amazing. I have access to my entire collection of movies, TV shows, and music from anywhere and every device that we own. No more DVDs/Blu-rays taking up space in my house. I just rip copies and then throw the discs into a box in the attic. Additionally, once I have a digital copy, my kids can no longer scratch the discs to the point that they skip or don't play at all. They also cannot break a digital copy in half (yes, they have broken a DVD in half before). It also uploads pictures from my phone to my computer, so they get organized into my photo collection (I use Shotwell) just like photos I pull off of my dSLR. My wife can instantly locate photos I have taken on my phone without having to ask me to send them to her! I purchased a Lifetime Plex Pass to support this great project, and for access to all of the features. While not necessarily cheap, I think it was well worth the price in the long run.
Easiest App ever to create a working media server. Only complaint I have, is that it is not good for audiobooks. Would be nice if you could set it to auto stop after 5 min of inactivity with books.
App is usually great. Update from two months ago has Plex running in the background and eating up 15% of my battery throughout the day (highest battery drain app on my phone).
fix one thing, break another. paid for Plex pass to get the synced content and it only works half the time. starting to wonder if Plex tests this app before releasing!
