This is one of the best apps ever created. Just the other day I was thinking I wish that there was a service that I could upload all my movies and TV shows that I have on my external hard drive so I can watch them without having to carry it around everywhere I go. A little research and I came across this gem, it does all I mentioned and more plus it works on my Chromebook.
Love this all and was really excited to see android auto support until.... no video :( I appreciate video in motion is not a good idea but the ability to watch when stopped is the same as any other car video/ DVD system. I spend many a lunch hour watching plex in the car (static) and having it built in would be way better.
Used to be great but Plex has dropped the ball over and over for more than a year. Bugs aren't getting squashed, support is non-existent so if something is wrong there is no way to fix it. Forums, you say? Good luck getting a response from someone who can help. I've switched to Emby. Far better, less bugs, responsive forums, etc etc...
I use plex at home from a raspberry pi. Ok, doesn't available an official package for raspberry sadly, but the docker fans solved this issue :) I can use plex remotely with openvpn without any public port forward. Everything works fine. Chromecast too. Sometimes the plex didn't found subtitle for some movies, but this is not a plex problem. I'm satisfied with plex. Thank you.
Use Plex a lot, however with notification the ChromeOS app is being discontinued I installed the Android app to find it will not sign in, I am stuck in a loop of expired credentials taking me instantly back to the login screen. If I skip this I cannot see files on my server. Dissapointing as a Plex Pass subscriber.
Always 2 steps forward and 1 step back.It seems virtually all of the resources for PLEX are now used primarily to develop ways to goad, harass, push you into signing up. some of us who paid for it just want to KEEP using PLEX in our internal home systems. Where is the Android remote widget?? The only reason I paid for three mobile apps was for the remote control.
• Local Playback: fix issue preventing playback for users who aren't signed in.
