Would be better if we could purchase some features (such as sync) without having to buy the full plex pass. Also the video title annoyingly pops back up when I use plex with a chromecast. Support for standard music playlists used by other apps as well as reading mp3 meta data is crucial
Easy perfect imagine a program that scans multiple folders, even shares, for your media. organized, with posters. then you can browse and watch from anywhere. transcoding for quality control or data usage. built-in player. what more could i ask for? any more and I'd give 6 stars
needs chapter selection even when playing from a playlist Chapter selection goes away if you skip to a previous or next episode. instead it shows a playlist. Still need to be able to access the chapter selections when playing one episode after another. Transcoding has been slow since before 1.0 server update. Using 8 core Xeon server with 24gb ram.
Paid but says I didn't--workaround Poor practice of in app purchase. Should have separate paid app on play store. Now this $5 app is broken. Received email telling me to Uninstall updates to google play store.. That works.. Let's hope it still works when the play store updates again.. Software verifications should NEVER render a legit software purchase as unusable. UPDATE: Clearing the cache of the Google play store worked in my case, still shouldn't have to prove you bought an app to the person you paid money to.
Minor problem The reason I give it a 4 is because the app ran perfectly before and I don't know if it was the update or something else but now I get no sound out of any movie. I know what it is like to make an app and I know the difficulties of it all. It might be the fact that it can't recognize the sound port as an audio option on my phone but I am sure they will fix it soon.
Getting better incrementally After trying other media servers like Media Browser and XBMC finding Plex a lot easier to live with. The user interface (UI) is straightforward, though not entirely intuitive when it comes to things like library creation, though update is easier than in past versions. Connections to external sources can be clunky or clear, depending on the content source: CBS and ABC load quickly, but iTunes can be unnervinglyl slow. One 5-star aspect of Plex is the educational support given by developers and members themselves. All in all, it's worth having on your home network.
