About this game

Poker Skill is free. Forever.

Poker Skill is a Texas Holdem poker app that teaches you to play and makes you better: short lessons, a Daily Puzzle and games against AI opponents that play to win. After every move, Coach Max shows you the best play and explains why, in plain words.

PLAY TEXAS HOLDEM AGAINST AI
- Play heads-up at Rival's Table, or take on two AI opponents at Maya's Table
- The AI plays real Texas Holdem: it bluffs, it folds and it makes you pay for mistakes
- Coach Max reviews every move as you play, so you know at once whether a call, fold or raise was right
- After each game, How You Played shows your decision quality and every hand you played
- No waiting for other players. Sit down and a hand is dealt.

LEARN POKER FROM ZERO
- Lessons take a few minutes and teach one decision at a time
- Get an answer wrong and the coach explains the better play

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN
- Texas Holdem rules: hand rankings, the best five cards and who wins
- Which starting hands to play
- Position, and why the button is the best seat
- Preflop: when to raise, call or fold
- Pot odds and outs, made simple
- Bluffing, value betting and bet sizing

A NEW PUZZLE EVERY DAY
- One poker hand a day, with every option graded, so you see how close your instinct was
- Practice that takes two minutes
- Streaks, XP, leagues and Daily Missions keep the habit going

TEXAS HOLDEM FOR BEGINNERS
- Each player gets two cards, and the blinds start the betting
- Preflop, you fold, call or raise with your two cards
- The flop puts three shared cards on the table, the turn a fourth and the river a fifth, with a round of betting after each
- At the showdown, the best five-card hand wins the pot
- The first lessons teach hand rankings, positions, the blinds and each action

POKER STRATEGY TRAINING
- Practice preflop decisions until the right play becomes habit
- Train your postflop play: when to bet for value, when to bluff and when to let a hand go
- Review every hand you played against the AI and see where you lost chips

WHO POKER SKILL IS FOR
- New players who want to learn how to play poker before they sit down at a table
- Home game and tournament players who want a poker trainer for a few minutes a day

Uses way too much poker jargan for a learning app. The descriptions further continue to use poker jargon I am unfamiliar with which doesn't ease confusion. I think that the developers could either ease you into the jargon over time initially using more simple language until you reach the most advanced courses or use simple language and point to the term that is used to describe the situation.

That’s fair feedback. If the descriptions felt too jargon-heavy, we missed the mark. Poker Skill should feel clear for newer players, not like you need a translator just to learn. Thanks for calling it out.

The interface is extremely slow (each click goes back to the server causing massive lag). You are forced to go through a long set of trivial basics (identify the hand type, make the best hand) and they are really long. It isn't complete yet, or even barely begun but they only offer absurd subscriptions. They should finish the product (or at least get a solid percentage of it ready) before trying to sell subscriptions.

Thanks for the honest feedback, Tom! A complete rewrite is coming very soon that solves the performance issues. We released as early access because we wanted to iterate quickly with real users. New lessons, play vs AI mode, and much more are on the way. We're a small team moving as fast as we can—appreciate you sticking with us!

good for basics but its recent updated have messed it up really wanted to like this but I've one or two trainings had me questioning the knowledge. it said to bet large on paired boards which I've studied to always bet small on paired boards. maybe there's some edge cases but I haven't been able to find any. also the most recent update has messed up the puzzles since I cant see the opponents stack sizes anymore which is pretty important for making decisions. overall okay but needs work.

Good news: opponent stack sizes are back on the puzzle table, so that read is available again. We rebuilt a huge part of the app in June and have been shipping fixes fast since, so the latest update is much smoother. Your training note is with our curriculum team too. Thanks for sticking with us through the rough patch, check it out.

What’s new

- Practice vs AI: the result screen opens with a headline about your game, like "Earned every chip" or "Ran bad", instead of "Great game!".
- Clearer, more consistent Coach Max feedback in Practice.
- Fixed an issue that could unexpectedly sign you out during a lesson or game.
- Bug fixes and performance improvements.
