The purpose of this mobile application is to help educate and improve decision making for law enforcement professionals taking a promotional exam. It covers basic knowledge in policing and is not specific to any states laws or ordinances. Nor does it follow any particular testing style. You should never defer to this application, but rather to your own department's policies and procedures. You may find areas in the application in which your particular state has stricter or more lenient guidelines. However, this application follows a fundamental knowledge base that is situational and developed through Supreme Court decisions.
If you have ever taken a sergeant exam or other police promotional test, then you have likely spent a lot of money on books and study materials preparing for it. These materials aren't cheap. All of us that have been through the police promotional process understand that we typically only utilize the practice tests in the back of those books. With this application, all of those practice tests can be taken as much as you like. No more paper tests slung all over your patrol car will be necessary. They will now fit in your pocket. You can take short tests while waiting on a wrecker, or longer test when you have time. The choice is yours.
The application utilizes 300 questions, in various categories, similar to the questions and categories you will see on a sergeant or promotional exam, along with 200 flashcards. The 200 flashcards will be on terminology that has been observed on promotional exams. By recognizing these words and their meanings, it will reduce confusion on the questions and differentiate between similar sounding answers. Again, this application isn't for any specific area, making it beneficial for anyone across the United States.
