Using the app to set up the devices is just ok. Process could be streamlined a little more. Does the job, but not without frustrations here and there.
Horrible.!!! This app is full of bugs. It constantly loses a speaker that needs to be reinstalled requiring multiple attempts and a lot of frustration. Sometimes it won't let you play more than one speaker at a time. Sometimes you need to uninstall the app and speakers and start from scratch. I paid a good deal of money for this system and it rarely works properly.
I work for DISH Network and we demo some of the Polk Soundbars. The quality of sound is definitely high quality in my opinion. Unfortunately, there's this app that manages the interactivity between the different WiFi speakers and it has been nothing more than a massive disappointment. I purchased the Omni series Soundbar, Subwoofer, and 2 additional S6 speakers I use for Surround Sound. My WiFi modem is in the same room as my sound system and yet 1 of my S6 speakers keeps disconnecting. And with this recent update, I can no longer connect to my Soundbar through the app. It's discovered but fails to pair. I want to support Polk, but this app needs help.
Gave 4 stars because it is very tricky to get these things to work correctly, but once you know what to do...perfect! First: If your wifi network has more than 1 access point, you need to give each SSID a different name. Also, if your wifi is dual band 2.4 and 5G you must give each band a different SSID name as well. Otherwise, the amp unit will jump from one access point to another if one of the signals becomes stronger from a different AP. Second: It is a good idea to log in to your network gateway (usually at 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1), and assign each unit a static IP address on the network. Look for setting that says DHCP reservation. You will have to enter the MAC ID for each unit, name each unit, and assign each unit a IP address. This will fix the problem of having to re-link the unit if it becomes disconnected. If you do not assign static IP to each unit, the gateway may reassign a different IP address each time a unit loses connection, so the APP no longer knows where the unit is located on the network. Assigning static IP means each unit will have a permanent location on the network that will not change every time the unit loses connection. Android app better than iOS
Crashes constantly, great when it works but needs some love, for the price of the omni hardware you would expect a stable app, this across two different android devices...
Doesn't work with the Polk magnifi mini home theater system. This is a new addition to the Polk lineup (6/2017). The remote that comes with this system can be iffy. So this mobile app can replace using a remote IMHO. Please help.
Now upgrade to true 5.1 wireless surround sound with your Omni SB1+ sound bar system. Use a pair of Omni S2, S2R, or S6 wireless speakers from Polk Audio for rear speakers. Simply update your Omni SB1+ firmware using the Polk Audio Utility app, followed by a single update to your DTS Play-Fi software using this app. Once updated, setup is simple and can be completed in minutes. It is highly recommended that surround sound speakers be placed on the 5 GHz band of a dual band AC router.
Definitive provides Wi-Fi audio streaming capability to your W series speakers.
