- An icon (Gr. εἰκών - picture, image, representation) is an image that shows respect for the painted person (Lord Jesus Christ, the Virgin, Angels and other saints), and not the material from which the icon is made. They are made of various materials, ivory, enamel, mosaic, marble, silver and gold, and are often painted with colors on a wooden base, with the image of Jesus Christ, the Virgin Mary, other saints, Angels or other events related to the history of the church and the Holy Scriptures. They are present in all Orthodox Churches, where they are placed on iconostasis and walls."Icons are installed in the developed iconostasis according to certain church canons".
Today, when a non-believer stands in front of an icon, he stands in front of it with the feeling that he is in front of a historical and artistic treasure. For a believing person, the icon has a much deeper, life-giving meaning, he stands in front of the icon as in front of a window that looks at and depicts the Kingdom of Heaven.
- The goal of this program is to learn about Orthodox miracle-working icons, their historical and religious significance both for the Orthodox Church and for Orthodox Christians in general, and to understand the role that miracle-working icons had and still have today in the Orthodox Church. Of course, to show how much faith, hope and love were placed not only by church dignitaries, but also ordinary people, as well as military leaders who trusted more in the help and mercy of miracle-working icons than in their own army, as is the case in to the Russian people, as in the case of e.g. icon of the Most Holy Mother of God of Kazan or Vladimir and a number of other miraculous icons.
- There are many Orthodox miracle-working canonized icons in the whole world to the glory of God, so this program is limited.
- The program shows Orthodox miracle-working icons from Mount Athos, Serbian and some from the Russian Orthodox Church.
I would kindly ask you that when you rate the application, look at all the overall effort, the interface - the appearance, the usefulness of the application and then rate it, and not immediately rate it with the unit because of one possible small mistake, because that will lower the rating of the application. There are and always will be minor mistakes in programming. It is your free and moral right to judge as you wish, and I will not interfere with that.
