Edit: automated reply, 3 stars now 1! For me, having played the original games this isn't a modern evolution. Very nicely drawn and the story, characters and everything is fine. That's the problem, it's just ok. Like all mobile games you can buy short cuts and eventually it becomes onerous to progress. It's a nicely put together experience but guides you through how to progress rather than explore and play, make mistakes, learn. This is missing from the game play, that exploring and revealing.

If you love Age Of Empires, avoid this at all costs. it has literally nothing to do with the old game except the name. there is no real game play/strategy here. The game constantly "highlights" what you need to click. you can't even choose building placement, then it just starts demanding micro transactions to speed things up. totally awful.

Awful game..nothing like the original. I've tried to give this game a week. However, its just a load of click boxes and prompts. Resources dwindled extremely fast making rebuilding or upgrading impossible without buying things with real cash. The ingame fighting and building like the original game is minimal in comparison. avoid at all cost...unless you want to be clicking on their red prompted boxes and sections to spend real money. Becomes a bore fest very quickly.
