You should know who you are training with! Meet your dance teacher, Robbie Downey, also widely known as Ballet Freak. Robbie has been dancing for over 20 years. As a pre-professional classical ballet dancer, Robbie trained at the top ballet schools in the country including year round in New York City. She has danced at professional ballet companies, won several awards, and has been invited to compete at prestigious international ballet competitions. She has also worked as a dance and flexibility teacher for children and adult beginners since 2017 and in addition she is barre fitness certified.
Robbie is successfully still dancing professionally as a guest and freelance classical ballet artist. She has had her own online ballet training programs, including Perfect Pirouettes, with hundreds of students since 2016 and has co-founded a small dance company in the Los Angeles area. She has attended many top notch summer intensives and can help you navigate applications, video submissions, and photos.
Robbie is still young enough to recall in detail her experiences from schools and first pointe shoe fittings. She had to work really hard to get where she is today. Not everything came easy for her but she persevered. Robbie did not have direct on demand access to a mentor or any extra help in making decisions about her training. This would have been a great advantage but it was not available to her.
