I have tried a number if apps and have dumped them all. This is straightforward and provides pertinent updates, not rehashes of them same stories. Glad I found it. Addendum: Only problem I find is stories from NY Times require subscription after a few articles. Is there any way around this? Update: There is a real issue with current news. I refresh and "main" articles that show up are 14 hours old. What's going on?
Pretty Good I like my news. I like a well rounded offering of news in an organized fashion. This app gives me most of that, except with a twist that's a pain in the neck. Holding down a finger on the story so I can get an icon which allows me to read all of it.
Downloaded this news app because Yahoo pulled the plug on their News Digest app (after they were bought by Verizon). This is as good as that one and maybe better. Best for people who are looking for a finite number of news.
High quality photo journalism with HD level images and an array of news subcategories. The range of planning , development and design innovation to create this app is clearly demonstrated. All features are easy to access. The information contained in news events is constantly updated for each category listed. This app is an ideal choice for fast, accurate digital news
Looks Pretty; Terrible Functionality = Big Time-waster. This app tries to be another Flipboard with its animated page flips etc. But UX design here is Simply Terrible. A story says "1 of 10 pages"--- but try to get to page 2. You can't. Slide and you go to Next Story. Tap -- and page flips back to app-home. Double tap and go nowhere. Long press and get icons. App shows multiple sources-- a good thing. But try to get to any other source. Just try it. The app notes tells you so eloquently about how they use technology, but it's in the background to make news front & center. Wrong: Most impt thing to this team is "cool animated flips". Which are waaaaaaay too slow and become quickly irritating. No "settings" to control that speed. Summary: An app that looked great, but doesnt understand information design.
This App does exactly what I want, except you end up needing to subscribe to news publications. Most of the "alternative sources" are pay sources, and if they're not, many times the alternayr source stories aren't the same story and only tamngentially related to the main article. The app itself has lots of adds, which is fine. But there should be a way for the developer to offer an upgrade at a $$ they can use to pay the sources (i.e. all Time publications, the Post etc.)
