About this app

Capture the Light, Forget the Math.

Ever find yourself staring at a waterfall, holding a 10-stop ND filter, and trying to divide 1/125 by "darkness" in your head? We’ve all been there.

Whether you’re shooting long-exposure seascapes or pushing film in a vintage Leica, Exposure Calculator handles the arithmetic so you can focus on the art. It’s the Swiss Army knife for your camera bag—minus the bulky metal and the risk of cutting your thumb.

The Full Creative Toolkit

‱ The Master Calculator: Swap Aperture, Shutter Speed, or ISO on the fly. Set any two, and we’ll tell you the third. It’s like magic, but with physics.
‱ The ND Stack-O-Matic: Stack up to 3 ND filters (up to 30 stops!) without breaking a sweat. Perfect for turning choppy waves into mist or making tourists disappear from busy streets.
‱ Bulb & Long Exposure: From 4 seconds to 24 hours. We’ve even included a built-in timer and alarm, so you can go grab a coffee while your sensor drinks in the light.
‱ Reciprocity Failure: Film photographers, we see you. Account for the quirks of your favorite emulsion with the optional compensation wheel.

Pro Tools for Precision

‱ ND Calibration: Not all filters are created equal. Calibrate yours for pinpoint accuracy.
‱ Reverse Search: Know the look you want but not the filter you need? Work backward to find the perfect ND value.
‱ EV Readout: Get the Exposure Value of your scene at a glance.
‱ Night Vision Protection: Don't ruin your rods and cones. Use the custom color night mode to keep your eyes adjusted to the dark.

Why You’ll Love It

‱ Extreme Ranges: From f/1.0 to f/360 and ISO 0.4 to 3.2M.
‱ Total Customization: Define your own increments (1, 1/2, or 1/3 stops).
‱ Presets: Save your go-to setups for instant access.
‱ Pure & Clean: No ads, no tracking, and no personal data collection.

Stop guessing. Start calculating. Your sensor (and your brain) will thank you.

Great app. I fly drones and when I manually set frame rates and shutter speeds to 30fps and 1/60, I have to use ND filters. Instead of guessing how many stops are necessary for that particular exposure, I can bring along a camera where I can determine correct shutter speeds based on the histogram. Now, I can convert shutter speed to ND stops. No more guessing. I don't have to bring back the drone just to change ND filters. I can get it right first time out.

Simple, functional, packed with useful features, no ads. Pretty much a must-have for calculating long exposures and such. The night mode is a life saver in the dead of night. As for suggestions, I wish there was an option to go beyond 1/32k, because there's cams like the a9iii that can do 1/80k of a second. If I could give more than five stars, I would have.

What’s new

‱ Spring Cleaning in February: We did some massive internal refactoring. Think of it like organizing your camera bag so you can actually find your lens cloth without digging past three dead batteries and a granola bar from 2022.

‱ Upgraded Dependencies: We’ve swapped out our old "gears" for shiny new ones. The app should now feel smoother, faster, and less likely to throw a tantrum when you're trying to calculate that 30-second long exposure at -2°C.
