Review from A Google User
Web site is better Good news! Redbox undid their permissions grab, so the app is back to being respectful of your privacy. Bad news! The app searches for your location every time you try to reserve a movie, and if it times out (as it often does) it won't let you reserve the movie. So now the web site is better than the app.
Easy to use interface. Great way to see what movies are out on DVD/Blu-ray before you get to a Redbox. You can also reserve movies at a particular location for pick-up before you get to the box. Sometimes some movies are sold out when you get to a box, so reserving them keeps away that annoyance. It will tell you which locations in your area have the particular movie you are interested in watching that day. Coupons for free movies, dollar off, or rent one and get one free for a night show up in the messages section every once in a while. Great app.
Fake locations on map Store locations can be wrong in this app; trust google directions instead. Customer service can only do so much to alleviate the pain of driving around lost for hours.
While the convenience is great, the app has some work. The interface is OK but the performance is terrible. Doesn't matter if I am on WiFi or cellular, it is slow and often times out. While I understand that it needs to be updated every time you select a location, the client is too thick and they need to reduce the load times. I have one of the fastest phones on the market so it isn't device related.
It's great but ... You would get five stars if you added the CV code section to the app. I can only use my bank card on the website, and I can't save it. It will not save when I purchase, can't be saved online (lack of CV code) and I can't add it in the app.
3 stars= it's ok. Still gotta go out in the rain, still gotta stand in line if the machine is busy, does often give price breaks, and it's reserve feature makes it so it's not a dry run.
I used to really enjoy this app and use it a lot. Now it wants full access to my photos, my files, andy device. What the hell does that have to do with you listing movies available for rent? NO! You are not entitled to access, monitor, take or copy any of my personal files - especially My photos! Why on earth would you think you need pics of my friends, family and kids? That is none of your business. Uninstalling.
