A go-to app with all you need to compete in Red Bulls Paper Wings 2019.
Red Bull Paper Wings 2019 is the fifth edition of the world’s largest paper plane competition for students. Split into three categories: Longest Distance, Longest Airtime and Aerobatics, thousands of novices and pros battle it out nationally and globally to make a plain sheet of paper fly as far, as long or as artistically through the air as possible.
New for 2019 is the Red Bull Paper Wings AR app. Using augmented reality, it’s packed with ways to help you hone your paper plane skills and fly through the competition, all the way to the gripping World Finals in Hangar-7 – home of the historic Flying Bulls.
Through the app you’ll learn how to fold five paper plane types – from a classic Spy Plane to an expert-level Sailor Wing. Each has different flight characteristics suited to different categories, so it’s easy to decide which one to build.
Once you’ve folded your plane, calibrate and test it out on the Runway. Then record your measurements across Distance and Airtime. Your results are tracked, so keep practicing to set your own PB. Plus, see how you stack up against your rivals in the competition Leaderboards. The app also uses geolocation so you can easily find your nearest Qualifier event and apply.
And don’t forget to have a go at the AR Game – the perfect training ground for budding Red Bull Paper Wings pilots. Simply practice throwing your paper plane in the Runway basket. But as the game progresses the distances and obstacles get tougher, making it harder to reach your goal.
If you fancy showcasing your talents in the Aerobatics category, there’s a step-by-step guide on how to record the best skills and tricks and enter. And for some inspiration to get you started, check out videos of previous Aerobatics attempts to see what’s wowed the judges before.
On top of all this, the app is also a great way to keep up-to-date with all the latest competition news. Ready to fly? Download the app now.
