About this app

You can help raise awareness and support for animal welfare organizations and deserving pets looking for their forever homes, simply by walking with this free mobile app.

Simply pick your favorite animal welfare partner from the list, start the app, and go for a walk, run or participate in any other outdoor activity that can be measured by GPS and involves a speed of less than 14 mph. At the end of every activity, share about your adventure and pet to help inspire more to adopt and save them all.

Some months, corporate sponsors may provide a pool of cash and product contributions you can help secure for your selected group or you can participate in the monthly walking goal or challenge.

Please note: continued use of GPS running in the background may significantly decrease battery life.

Update 7/24/20. We managed to get logged back in but still never got a reply from the developer. We did find out what the issue was with it not tracking our total mileage. We both are using phones running OS 10 and under Settings>Permission>Location> you need to select Allow all the time. If you don't it only tracks you when you have the screen on and not in standby. This doesn't mean it is running when you aren't using the app and we've seen no additional drain on the battery when not in use. We had to make that same change on another hiking app. Adding a couple more stars. This is a wonderful idea and we support Best Friends and volunteer in animal shelters. We have used the app on both our phones for a good while now. Recently it became erratic on my wife's Samsung Galaxy S5 so we uninstalled and reinstalled. Now we can't log in to the app. Tried resetting the password and still can't login. Sent an email to the developer asking for help which goes without a reply. Update. It won't work reliably on an LG G4 or Galaxy S10. I've given up and deleted it.

This app was working fine until today and now it won't let me start it up. I don't have Android 10 yet, so can't blame that. I uninstalled and reinstalled and same problem. UPDATE 4.27.20 Starts up fine but now doesn't accurately log walk. I use other apps for tracking walks and they're fine so it's not the GPS on my phone. Used to be I could have my phone in my pocket or my sports bra and would have a very accurate GPS picture (even used it in Arches Nat'l Park in Utah on a hike when we mistakenly got off the trail and it got us back on track), now it's not even right when I'm holding it in my hand (while juggling 3 dogs on leashes). Even when the app is open and visible on my screen, it will do the "shortest distance between two points" vs. the path, causing me to lose 1/2 to 3/4 of a mile at a time. It's like it suddenly remembers "oh yeah, I have to say where she is" and then shoots a straight line from where I was before to where I am now. Not sure what happened over the past month, but it's frustrating enough that I'm going to check into other apps to help my chosen rescue.

I think this app can be improved by being able to connect / share with other fitness apps, or log a walk if the data was interrupted because of cell service getting interrupted, phone dying. As of September 2020, I reinstalled the app on a new phone, logged in but all my previous information is gone, even though my same profile is consistent. The app then just locks in a "refreshing " mode or unable to find any other rescues.
