Overview Mandingo languages: The Mandingo languages form a group of West African dialects that are the main group by number of speakers, the family of Mande languages. This is a linguistic continuum, that is to say that even the most remote variants are mutually intelligible and that there are no clear boundaries between each identified dialect. Its main representatives are the Bambara in Mali Dioula in Côte d'Ivoire and Burkina Faso, the Mandinka in Senegal and Gambia or Maninka of Guinea. N'ko is the name of a script designed by Solomana Kante in 1949 as Mandingo language transcription system in West Africa. N'ko means "I say 'in all Manding languages.
