Stadtsteinach was the starting point for trade and travel along a medieval old road through the Steinach Valley. With the help of our "Guiding App" - Steinachtal adventure axis - hikers and cyclists can embark on a breathtaking journey. From the medieval town center of Stadtsteinach, including the remains of the town wall and the nostalgic museum of local history, to the center of the Presseck market with its beautiful Church of the Holy Trinity and its great early frescoes. Right next to it, a labyrinth of rock passages and rock vaults that were carved out of the Nagelfluhfels extends underground.
On the way there are over a dozen other adventure points which are informatively prepared by the app, information boards and a classic map. Historically verifiable stories are told and structures that have long since fallen into disrepair are brought back to life. The story of a Bamberg merchant who was taken prisoner is told at the Nordeck castle ruins, which are considered to be one of the most beautiful castle ruins in the Franconian Forest. Can he break free? You have to find out for yourself!
