In addition to information on the Veste Oberhaus in Passau, the Oberhaus Museum with its exhibitions and valuable collections and the nature experience on Georgsberg, which is part of the Donauleiten nature reserve with a unique flora and fauna, the Veste Oberhaus app offers a multimedia guide that lets visitors “Open in the footsteps of the knights and prince bishops ”through the castle complex and the entire outdoor area. Numerous stations are waiting to be discovered by visitors.
A map with digital navigation helps you find your way around and makes you want to go to the nearest information point and immerse yourself in the history of the Veste Oberhaus.
Four different adventure tours offer selected information points on the castle grounds. There are no predefined routes, the points can be visited independently of one another in any order.
At 17 stations, visitors can get useful information about buildings, squares or the former residents of the Veste Oberhaus using short texts, interesting pictures, films and audio documents. They provide fascinating insights into life at the castle and take the visitor on a journey through time: the former drawbridge to life and the past awakens like the former keep, the oldest residential tower on the Veste Oberhaus, becomes virtually visible again.
A highlight tour leads the visitor to five selected points, which he should definitely visit when visiting the castle, even with limited time.
The panorama tour shows the most beautiful viewpoints of the city of Passau, the confluence of the Inn, Danube and Ilz rivers and the impressive view into the Bavarian Forest and beyond the national borders; it also has a special digital attraction: If you look at the city with the app, selected buildings are displayed and explained using augmented reality.
The treasure hunt invites the visitor to discover objects from ancient times at authentic sites in the castle grounds; Selected objects are visualized in three dimensions and can therefore be viewed from all sides in the app.
