I was an original Kickstarter. The Android app has never worked for me. It won't connect to the kick, and regularly crashes. It would appear Rift Labs moved on and simply gave up on the kick before completing the app. Pretty much the exact same app is used for another light they developed.
Decent. Bare bones app Most importantly I have no trouble linking to the light and choosing the color that I'm looking for. This is however a very clunky app. Not all of the "features" work and it is not always responsive and seems to suffer from some bugs. That said, it gives me wireless control over the light, so I am satisfied.
Junk I bought the Kick Light when I bought an iPhone 5S and the app was just okay. The app for Android is complete junk. I have a Galaxy S5 so it's not a question of old hardware. I'm just guessing that the company didn't do as well as they thought they would and now they're abandoning the product. It's a shame because it's a nice idea. I guess I can continue to use the light manually. Even looking at the company website looks like it hasn't changed since it first launched. Expensive product too.
Crashes Constantly crashes when I try to stream video to the device. I mainly bought this light for this feature. I desire to simulate camp fire etc. Hopefully this is fixed.
Android version useless Kick light was broken out of box. Faulty on switch. Android software not nearly as good as ipad/iphone. Wifi unstable with s4. Very disappointed but nice idea. Just poorly executed design. Will seek refund.
Not a bad start Would like to see custom affects and the ability to use the kick device with the phone camera off. It drains the phone battery to have it on when I don't need it. Especially seeing as the builtin camera app stretches the frame for some odd reason.
Version 1.6.16 fixes problems with linking.
Note: Most phones have problems releasing the WiFi connection if you exit the app using the home button. It is better to use the back button to exit the app.
