Dashboard Cast is a personalized homescreen for Chromecast. Create and organise widgets to your liking and display them on your TV. This app requires a Chromecast or a Cast enabled device to work.

You can now create alarms to automatically trigger casting of your dashboard to your TV.

Widgets available :
- Clock and date
- Weather: get current and future weather forecasts
- RSS: view RSS or ATOM feeds on your TV
- Calendar: read your phone's calendar and display it on your TV
- Stock: select from a list of stock quotes
- Audio : play audio streams or podcasts (beta). Select a podcast from the app, or enter a url to an audio file or stream or playlist and listen to it on your chromecast. Supported audio file and playlist formats : mpeg (mp3, mp4, etc), .ogg, .pls, .xpsf, .m3u.
- Map: Weather layer or traffic map with directions information

- Choose your own backgrounds to display behind your widgets (beta)
- Customize the look of your widgets

Permissions :
- Read phone state : Needed to display advertisement.
- Approximate location : the weather widget has an option to use your current location to get weather data. The permission is needed to access the city you are in to display proper weather data.
- Read calendar events : the calendar widget needs this permission to send your upcoming events to Chromecast. If you do not have a calendar widget set up, the application does not look at your calendar data.
- Google Play billing service : necessary to make in-app donations to remove ads.
- Prevent phone from sleeping : if the phone sleeps while connected to the Chromecast, the connection is interrupted. Therefore the application needs to prevent the CPU from going to sleep in order to keep the connection open.
- Receive device boot completed : needed to schedule alarms when the device is powered on.
- Access and change wifi state : allows Dashboard Cast to automatically turn on wifi without going into the device settings.

First impressions are mixed. There are some glitches with the bottom advert, that needs to be sorted urgently. Looking at comments below, I agree, we need a preview built into the app. Also, it would be good to see some developer responses to the comments left here. Feedback man!!! Talk to the people who want to use your app.

Works really well, love the auto connect option. Wish there was a preview mode in the app, but that's not super important. Tip: use with HDMI-CEC and your TVs built in scheduled off command to turn on and off your TV without any action if your own

This is the Chromecast app I've been waiting for. A little rough around the edges but still exactly what I've wanted for a Chromecast dashboard. Would love to see support for a Google Play Music or Spotify widget...that would make this app near perfect in my eyes.

all in all app looks good. sets up easy. casts s dash with customizable content.. I would give a better rating but I causes Chromecast to reboot. which makes it unusable.. for me that is.. ifttt support would be an awesome new feature..

So much potential, but won't run right now at all. And before it started consistently crashing, it was really glitchy. Also, it would be nice if they kept a comprehensive list of RSS news and audio urls other than the 5 bbc stations listed. But I look forward to this coming together and being totally awesome!

I am using this for weather and maps (love the live update on the map as you edit). I think it is a great effort. Yes there are glitches but it deserves a better rating so giving it 5 stars. Also donated $5 to remove ads. Please keep working on this developer. It's good to see something more than the usual video casting apps!

When I saw this app I got pretty excited thinking I could have a little "home screen" type of thing. It works great, just the options to choose from is not really anything I would choose from except the weather but even that is wrong! It would be nice to see either a news story ticker, or something about new movie, DVD release, SOMETHING! Add that and this would be worth something. Right now it's crap in a bag. Sorry google! I love most of your apps so I was shocked at this

I have been looking for something like this for a long time to bring all the Productivity apps under one dash so I can start the day knowing what's coming... on the TV! This is great! I had a bit of trouble setting up the spacing for the first column, but in the end use the note feature to put up a title, 'Dashboard' which pushed down the clock and weather and set them nicely. Two tweaks I'd love to see; My Google Keep reminders as a widget, and some kind of alarm setting that would automatically cast it in the morning. Maybe IFTTT compatability? Edit: alarms have been added and work great!

A lot of good potential here with a few major issues: 1. Calendar doesn't refresh. If you don't re-cast every day, you'll have events being shown that are long past displaying. 2. The notes section is terribly broken. In order to get the white font to show up on the cast screen, I have to write text that is invisible (white) on the phone.

This is absolutely brilliant! The ONLY draw back is that I currently can't use it on my Nexus Player or Android TV natively... Please, if it wouldn't take too much coding, can you make this able to be loaded on the Nexus Player without casting it from my phone / tablet? Cheers!

Great functional app to cast our family's daily agenda. It took a little time to setup the way I wanted. Now, we have everything we need to see each day cast to a monitor in the kitchen A few things need some tweaking to make the experience even better.

Fantastic app. Just what I've been looking for but it hast worked at all the past couple of weeks on 2 separate devices. Just force closes. Sent a bug report but nothings been fixed.

Tons of potential, but lacking in some areas. Agenda calendar needs something to divide the days. Alarms not reliable to turn on tv. Otherwise, best app for this but needs tweaks

I like this app, would like to have more control on fonts, integration with YT and Google now and Google Music or other music rather BBC!, I saw some plans in that route, so I like the app! BTW, it's a hidden Gem! but needs improve...

Great concept but the alarm just does not work. I've had it installed on several different devices over the last 2 years and it has never worked properly. This time it's been installed on a Nexus 6p for about 3 weeks and the alarm has worked once in that time.

The ad at the bottom scrolls up to the top and stays in front of the settings, making it impossible to set up widgets. What use is it if I can't set it up?

4 stars purely for the potential that this app has. Otherwise its got glitches and lacks many core features let alone extras that would make this app great. An update needs to do the following: - fix glitchy ad bar that moves the "+" button constantly - add capability to move widget order around - use existing backdrops from chromecast instead of custom ones - have some motion attached like cycling the widgets around screen to prevent burn in Extras: - add spacer widgets with custom height - position control and placement interface a la typical android homescreen - open up for third party notifications

It's a great idea and a good app to see everything at once on your TV. However, the auto reconnect doesn't work for me (Note 8), even after purchasing the app, uninstalling and reinstalling it. It would be perfect if it did. Would change review if it was fixed.

Great app, but I would prefer to have the agenda not scrolling, so I can always see the most recent events. Maybe in the agenda we could define the number of days to display. I use this to display my agenda in the morning in the TV.

Great idea and execution. Love the background pictures. Best thing to turn on in the morning and stream some BBC radio and see my day on the screen. Love it

Cool idea for using your Chromecast as an info screen. But the weather app is not auto updating. I have to reconnect for it to show current weather. Please make it update at least every hour.
